MOUNT VERNON — Doris M. Dye, 83, of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly Saturday evening, March 1, 2014, in the emergency room at Knox Community Hospital. She was born May 23, 1930, in Richlands, Va., daughter of the late Walter and Frances (Stevenson) Eller Sr.

Doris worked for Sears and Roebuck for many years as a credit manager and after retiring from Sears, she went to work for the Country Court Nursing Home. She attended the Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene. Doris enjoyed reading and having monthly get togethers with her friends. Her greatest passion was spending time with her grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her children, James (Mary Beth) Dye of Columbus, Patricia Collins of Walhonding and Frances (Lonnie) Parker of North Carolina; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis E. Dye; granddaughter, Stephanie Sprang; brother, Walter Eller Jr.; and sister, Elizabeth Shreve.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, with Rev. Scott Sharpes officiating.
