MOUNT VERNON — Tonda Lea Butler, 69, of Mount Vernon, passed away Feb. 3, 2014, at her daughter’s residence. She was born Aug. 28, 1944, in Portsmouth, to Sherman J. and Darlene L. (Bishop) Shump.

She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca (Richard) Garee of Centerburg and Toni (Doug) Robinson of Mount Vernon; one son, James (Gina) Butler of Sunbury; two grandchildren, Joshua Butler and Grath Garee; and one sister, Sharon Abner of Dayton.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Shump.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church Sunbury, 12259 North Old 3C Highway, Sunbury, OH 43074, on Saturday, at noon, with Pastor Dan Brown officiating. The family will observe a private burial in Trenton Cemetery.

The family would like to say a special thanks to all the nursing staff at Hospice of Knox County for their care.
