FREDERICKTOWN — Charles E. Bias, 86, of Fredericktown, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon. He was born in Stallings, Logan County, W.Va. on Jan. 31, 1927, to the late Monroe and Josephine (Atkins) Bias.

He is proud of his time in the U.S. Army where he served in World War II. Charles enjoyed fishing, woodworking and working with his hands. He enjoyed his time with Interchurch in Fredericktown, but most of all he loved his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Pier) Bias of Fredericktown; a son, Mark (Mary) Bias of Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Basick of Butler Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Lucien Bias; two sisters, Vangie Mahan and Marie Burger; and a grandson, Adam Hayman.

Calling hours will be observed Monday, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home; 619 E. High St. Mount Vernon, Ohio, where a funeral service will follow at noon, with Pastor Reginald Martin officiating. A Burial will take place at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Mount Vernon.
