The National Alliance on Mental Illness Licking/ Knox County

The National Alliance on Mental Illness Licking/ Knox County, has announced the following delays/changes:


• All NAMI Knox Licking County programs are postponed. The NAMI offices are now closed to the public, but the staff will be available to take calls on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during normal office hours.


• If Ariel-Foundation Park is closed, the April 18 Walk to Stomp Out Stigma will be rescheduled to Saturday, Oct. 17, with the same starting time and location. Registration will remain open for the event.

• Registration is still open for the World Bipolar Day and Vincent Van Gogh Birthday party scheduled for May 30, but the event will be rescheduled to a later date, yet to be determined.


• NAMI Connection meetings on Wednesdays.

Not changing:

• Peer to Peer educational program scheduled to continue Thursday, April 16, at the NAMI office.

• Enrollment for the April 13 Family to Family class; it may move to a later date, depending on how circumstances evolve.

Parent Support Initiative of Knox County, Ohio TRIPLE P CLASS INFO: Sessions for all courses that are currently in process will be completed via phone or virtually. Hot Meals Program

MOUNT VERNON — The Hot Meals program is still offering community meals during the pandemic, offering a grab and go style of meal.

Meals are available in the following locations:

On Sunday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Parish House, 100 E. High St., Mount Vernon.

On Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 102 N. Gay St., Mount Vernon

On Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at First Congregational Church, 200 N. Main St., Mount Vernon

On Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Father's Table, Mount Vernon First Naz Foster's Ministry House, 723 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon.

On Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 206 E. Ohio Avenue, Mount Vernon

On Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Gay Street United Methodist Church, 18 N. Gay St., Mount Vernon

On Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Mount Vernon Seventh-Day Adventist School, 221 Sychar Road, Mount Vernon

FACA Hot Meals at the Senior Citizens building in Fredericktown is suspended until further notice.

In Fredericktown, the meals can be picked up on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 5th Mondays of the month at Fredericktown Senior Citizens Building, 2 East Sandusky Street, Fredericktown between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

On the fourth Monday, meals can be found at the Fredericktown First Presbyterian Church, 17 South Main Street, Fredericktown, between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

On Wednesday's at United Methodist Church, 123 Columbus Road, Fredericktown between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

K-12 Schools

Starting Tuesday, March 17, all K-12 schools will close to students through Friday, April 3.

Mount Vernon City Schools: lunch and breakfast pick up times are from 11 a.m.-12p.m. for all school aged children that attend Mount Vernon City Schools. Locations:

  • Former Pat Catan's parking lot.


Starting on Sunday, March 15, restaurants/bars will be closed. Delivery and carryout will still be allowed.

Take out and Delivery Menus available from participating restaurants.


Will not be accepting visitors except for end of life situations.


First Knox National Bank: beginning Thursday, March 19, in-person services are limited temporarily. Most banking services will be offered mainly by drive-thru or by appointment when necessary.

Peoples Bank of Gambier: temporarily closing lobby doors, continuing to operate all services as usual through drive thru locations during regular business hours.


Starting Wednesday, March 18, hair salons, nail salons, barbershops, spas and tattoo parlors and other similar businesses will be closed.


Bureau of Motor Vehicles offices will be closed until May 26, 2020. Citations for expired licenses will not be issued after March 18, 2020 until further notice.


Starting Monday, March 16 the following will be closed until further notice: bowling alleys, health clubs, fitness centers, gyms, yoga studios, indoor trampoline parks, movie theaters, performance theaters, public recreation centers, and indoor sports facilities.

Knox County Historical Museum

Closed until further notice. All previously scheduled events, programs, and monthly meetings, including the Historical Society's Annual Meeting in April, are being postponed until a future date.

Knox Area Transit

Knox Area Transit (KAT) will continue to provide service as directed. Staff will continually work to maintain a clean and safe environment on the buses. All buses have been disinfected and will continue to be disinfected on a daily basis. Buses will be disinfected more often, especially those transporting to and from medical appointments.

KAT asks you to assist them and the community by:

Practicing social distancing when riding the bus

Do not ride if you have a fever or are feeling ill

Notifying them immediately if you have a fever or feeling ill, so they can clean the bus to minimize risk.


Kroger: Open 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. daily

Walmart: Open 7 a.m. - 8:30p.m. daily

Starting Tuesday, March 24 to April 28, on Tuesdays only from 6-7 a.m. is designated to customers age 60+ before the store opens to the general public at 7 a.m.

Dollar General: 8-9 a.m. designated to Senior Citizens; 9a.m. - 8 p.m. regular business hours


All county public libraries in Mount Vernon, Fredericktown, Danville and Gambier are closed until further notice.

During the closure period, library staff will continue to work to provide library services by phone, online chat, making e-books and e-audio books more available. WIFI will be accessible in parking lot to allow use of the internet safely from their cars.

Knox County Service Center

Opportunity Knox Employment Center

Offices will be closed to the public until further notice.

Knox County Sheriff's Office

Hours of operation: 9:00a.m. to 11:30a.m. and 1:00p.m. to 3:30p.m. Visitors will be screened prior to entry.

Knox County Animal Shelter

Closed until further notice

City of Mount Vernon

All City facilities will be closed to the general public.Mount Vernon city facilities, except for the Water/Wastewater and Tax Department will reopen May 12, 2020. Fire and Police Department will still remain closed to the public.

Interchurch Social Services

Food Pantry Assistance and Emergency Financial Aid offered by appointment only. Please call your local office to determine eligibility and to schedule appointments.

Effective the week of March 23, until further notice, hours of each office are as follows:

Centerburg: Tuesday- Friday, 9 a.m. - 2p.m.

Danville: Monday- Thursday, 10 a.m. - 3p.m.

Fredericktown: Monday- Thursday, 11 a.m. - 4p.m.

Mount Vernon: Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. - 4p.m.

Municipal Buildings

Knox County: All county offices are open and providing essential services. Individuals are still encouraged to call or email the offices to set up an appointment.

Mount Vernon: Effective Tuesday, May 12th, the City will reopen most public offices.

Centerburg: The village offices will be open to the public beginning on May 11th. Individuals are still encouraged to conduct business by phone or email where possible.

Fredericktown: The Village of Fredericktown office is open. Individuals are requested to conduct business remotely as much as possible.

Gambier: The village is limiting access to public facilities.

Danville: Closed to the public. Essential services will still be conducted. Payments can be made online at or paid at HometownMarket. Call 740-599-6888 and follow the prompts to leave a message.

Social Security Offices

All offices will be closed to the public for in-person service starting Tuesday, March 17.

County Water/Wastewater Payments

Customers are encouraged to use the online payment option or take advantage of the drop-off at the front of the office.

Station Break Senior Citizen Center

Closed to the public. Meals are being provided to homebound seniors. The box of frozen meals will contain 5 meals in each box and will replace the hot meal that is delivered daily. Boxes will be delivered once a week.
