MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Career Center Board of Education re-appointed board members Jody Goetzman and Ruby Miller took the oath of office, and Richard McLarnan and Margie Bennett were re-elected president and vice president of the board, respectively, when the board met on Tuesday.

McLarnan will also continue to serve as the legislative liaison and Bennett as the student achievement liaison.

The board approved typical annual actions and authorized superintendent Bernie Pachmayer to employ specialized lawyers when the need arises. Pachmayer said that will save the district money in that going directly to someone who specializes in labor relations, for example, will eliminate the double billing caused by having to go through the board’s “regular” lawyer to find a specialist.

The regular monthly meeting started off with presentations by CIM instructor Dave McGough and students Eddie Schreiber and Cora Smith; building trades instructor Colby Clippinger, assisted by student Kyle Moxley. Clippinger said the school is hosting a Skilled Trades fair on Friday, with several trade unions and employers expected to attend.
