MOUNT VERNON — Knox Community Hospital is rescheduling all of today’s surgeries due to a possible frozen coil in an air handler, according to Jeffrey Scott, director of marketing and development.

“There are two new air handlers above the operating room. One of the air handlers, one of the coils in the air handlers we think froze and started leaking, and that effects the humidity in the operating room,” said Scott.

Scott told the News that the operating schedule for today is all elective surgeries and that KCH “chose to be more cautious” to get the work that is needed to be done on the operating room sooner than later.

Update: (2:37 p.m.) Elective surgeries for Thursday, January 9, at Knox Community Hospital are still scheduled.
