The last two nights of the Knox County Fair feature some of the bigger grandstand events. On Friday, it was a full-scale rodeo, complete with multiple events like steer wrestling and calf roping along with horse and bull riding.
At a spry, fit 77 years, Jim Young of Marengo finished first among four Antique Tractor Pull contestants Thursday evening at the Knox County Fair, his orange-colored 1935 Allis Chalmers WC pulling the weight sled 178.28 feet.
Thursday was a day of highs and lows for Knox County 4-H’ers. The highs included money received for the sale of their grand champion and reserve champion animals, while the lows included the tears of watching a favorite pet be hauled away at the sale.
