‘Knox Alerts’ charge-back amounts sent to recipients

Knox County Commissioners passed a resolution Thursday charging entities such as the city of Mount Vernon and the villages of Danville, Centerburg and Fredericktown — 14 in all — a total of $9,835.75 for being part of the county’s mass notification system of emails and texts known as “Knox Alerts.”

New jail roof material may be an energy saver

The Knox County Jail roof is divided into three sections all totaling about 40,000 square feet, and with cost savings of about $10,000 to be had if all three roof sections were replaced at once, the project is nearing completion at a total cost of $225,388.

Recreational trail planned for Wally Road corridor

The first of three public hearings for a proposed $25 million multi-use trail project — initially known as the Wally Road Multi-modal Corridor, and now called the Mohican Greenway Corridor Plan — was held Tuesday evening in the Memorial Building ballroom, with a light attendance of about 20 people.

Joshua Morrison/News Local manufacturer AMG was named as the successful applicant for the New Hope Industries building in the Mount Vernon Industrial Park.

Local buyer for New Hope Industries site

Following a 20-minute executive session Wednesday, The Knox County Land Bank Board of Directors selected the application and purchase offer of AMG Industries to buy the 35,000 square-foot building at 1375 Newark Road.
