MOUNT VERNON — Helena B. Priest, 79, of Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020, at Knox Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 15, 1940, in Licking County, the daughter of Raymond and Martha (Hollar) Stafford.

Helena was a 40-year member of Glenwood Chapter #303 Order of Eastern Star where she had served numerous times as Past Worthy Matron. She also served on several Star Points, held the position of Secretary and Treasurer and in 2008 she served as District #12 President. In 1993, Helena served as the Grand Marshall of the Grand Chapter of Ohio, a position she took great pride in.

Helena was also a long-time member of Central Christian Church of Mount Vernon. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother that will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her children, Pam Priest of Howard and Dave (Dawn) Priest of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren, Casey Staats, Dustin Staats and Mackenzie Staats, Hanna (Ian) Douglas, Hunter Priest and Hailey Priest; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy (Robert) Earlywine of Garden City, Missouri, and her companion Ed Mizer.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Priest; a brother, Robert Stafford; two sisters, Rosemary Rine and Patricia Wheeler.

A funeral service and Eastern Star Service will be held on Friday, Feb. 28, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, OH 43050, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Mr. Ken Springer will be officiating. Burial will follow in Martinsburg Cemetery.
