MOUNT VERNON — Betty Faye Bowling, 87, of Mount Vernon, was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Champaign, Illinois, and passed away Feb. 21, 2020.

She was a secretary at Wright Patterson AFB and at Wright State University. Betty was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, attended Church at Chapel Hill and Pine Street Church of God.

Betty is survived by sons, Nathan D. Peters and Daniel E. (Teresa) Peters, all of Mount Vernon; step-daughter, Janice (James) Seymour of Gahanna; grandchildren, Charity Smith, Dani (Chad) Worth, Justin Peters, Daniel E. Peters Jr., Stephanie Peters and Maverick Peters; step-granddaughter, Danielle (Matt) Millershone; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Rev. Erman A. Peters and Henderson Bowling; parents, Elizabeth L. and John P. Brown; a brother, Wendall H. Brown; an aunt, Grace L. May; and a grandson, Nathaniel S. Peters.

Betty graduated in 1950 from Bath High School, Fairborn, the last graduating class. She loved music, played several musical instruments for church and several gospel groups. She loved to cook. Most of all she loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Friends may call at the Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, 49 W. Church St., Centerburg, Thursday, 11 a.m. to 12 noon followed by a service at 12 noon, Pastor Russ Gumm, officiating. Interment at Moundview Cemetery, Mount Vernon.
