FREDERICKTOWN — Charles R. Kilgore Sr., 78, of Fredericktown, passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at his residence. He was born in Lexington Sept. 20, 1941, to the late Earl L. and Anna Marie (Armstrong) Kilgore.

After school Charles went to work driving a truck and spent the better part of his life working on the road. He loved fishing, working on cars, traveling and visiting the shipyard in Bath, Maine. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, driving his diesel truck, and most of all he loved being around his kids and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Charles R. Kilgore Jr, Earl G. Kilgore, David A. Rutherford, JoAnn M. Marsh, Patricia J. (Afolabi) Ajayi; grandchildren, Janell, D’Marcus, Megan, David, Brandy, D.J., Jessica, Allegra and Winter; brothers, Larry (Paula) Kilgore, Roger (Arlene) Kilgore, Brian (Bonnie) Kilgore; a sister, Betty Moore; the Davis family; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Charles is preceded in death by spouses, Nancy and Frances Kilgore; brother, Gary Kilgore; and sister, Agnes Miner.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, Jan. 16, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with the funeral service starting at 1 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, with Pastor Dallas Waggle officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
