LOUDONVILLE — Evelyn Jane Swank passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, in McMullen Assisted Care surrounded by her family. She was 98.

She was born May 16, 1921, to parents Herschel and Savilla (Workman) Richert in Jelloway, and graduated from Loudonville High School with the class of 1939. She married Forest Swank May 30, 1942, and they spent 55 wonderful years together until he passed away in 1997.

Jane was a library assistant for the Loudonville-Perrysville School district, where she worked for several years until retiring.

Jane was a long-time member of the Loudonville United Methodist Church, and very active in all service-related church activities. She was also Junior Fair Secretary and a camp counselor at Camp Wesley for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed being among and observing nature. Very content in nature, Jane particularly took pleasure in birdwatching and wildflowers.

She is survived by her sons, David (Christina) Swank and Jonathan (Edith) Swank; grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Swank, Vanessa Swank, Peter Swank, and Matthew (Melanie) Swank; siblings, Martha Ann Freytag and Kermit (Donna Marie) Richert; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ralph Richert.

Jane’s family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 17, from 4-7 p.m. in the Snyder Funeral Home- Lindsey Chapel, Loudonville. A funeral service honoring Jane’s life will be held Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. in the Loudonville United Methodist Church, 124 N. Market Street, Loudonville. The Rev. Dr. Steven Sullivan will officiate and burial will take place prior to the funeral at 10 a.m. in Loudonville Cemetery.
