MOUNT LIBERTY — Jay Freling Berger, 85, of Mount Liberty, passed away on Friday, Dec. 6, 2019 at Morrow County Hospital.

He was born Aug. 23, 1934 in Mount Vernon to the late Jay Frank Berger and Ethel Marie (Bishop) Beal. A born again believer since 1980, Jay had assisted Pastor Robert Adkins in revivals of Evangelist Clay Boomer in Ohio and Kentucky. Since 1999, Jay was quite involved in the outreach ministry of nursing and extended care facilities surrounding Knox County.

He truly enjoyed his association and fellowship with all the residents, nurses, care-givers and administration people. Jay was a member of the Willow Grove Advent Christian Church in Mount Liberty and was a veteran, having served in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife Betty Jean (Wilt) Berger; his sons, Jeff (Debbie) Berger, Aaron (Kristina) Berger, Myron (Stacey) Berger; step-sons, Dan (Leigh Galiardi) Wolfe; Mark Wolfe; his daughters, Angie (John) Schmitt, Sherrie (Dave) Adams; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his brother Vaun Berger.

In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his sons Kenneth and Bill Berger.

Friends may call Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019 at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home from 4-6 p.m. A service will be held Wednesday at the Willow Grove Advent Christian Church, beginning at 11 a.m. with Pastor Chad Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Liberty Cemetery.
