COLUMBUS — A running back who broke the school’s single-season record for rushing yards and one of the linemen who helped him do it were named to the Division II All-Ohio football team when that and the Division III teams were announced Tuesday by a statewide media panel. Teams were selected by members of the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.

Mount Vernon record-setter Wyatt Gregory and offensive lineman Austin Kerr, both seniors, were honored for their performances with selection to the Second Team.

Gregory had an outstanding season in leading the Yellow Jackets to their best record (6-4) since 2013. Gregory rushed for 2,041 yards on 278 carries for an average of 7.3 yards per carry, and fumbled only twice all season. He also caught one pass for 15 yards and scored 21 touchdowns.

Kerr was one of the best blockers for a rushing offense that gained over 2,900 yards, an average of 290 yards per game, and averaged 6.7 yards each carry. He also played defense, where he made 24.5 tackles, five tackles for loss and one sack.

Another senior, Ryan Tiell, earned Special Mention for his work at defensive back. His 56 tackles paced Mount Vernon, and his seven tackles for loss tied for first on the team.
