MOUNT VERNON — R & M’s Southside Diner hosted its 22nd Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner to benefit Hospice of Knox County Sunday, Nov. 24.

As it does each year, the restaurant closed at 2 p.m. to prepare, and then reopened from 3-6 p.m., serving a traditional meal with all of the fixings. Southside Diner employees, who volunteered their time for this event, were joined by community volunteers to serve more than 760 meals.

This year, $8,262.10 was raised for the patients and families being served by Hospice of Knox County. Throughout the history of the event, more than $125,000 has been donated to the non-profit.

“I am continually amazed by the generosity of Southside Diner’s owners and staff, the volunteers, and the community support in Knox County,” HNCO’s Executive Director Bill Kahl said.

R & M’s Southside is owned by Paul and Beth Neighbarger. The restaurant has been a long-time supporter of Hospice of Knox County. Hospice of Knox County is a member of Hospice of North Central Ohio which serves patients and families in Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Morrow, and Richland counties.
