MOUNT VERNON — Ralph L. Strait, 83, of Mount Vernon passed away Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, at his home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born on June 25, 1936, in Gahanna, to the late Elmer and Geneva (Risk) Strait. Ralph was a Veteran serving in the United States Army. He worked for a few years at United Telephone Company as an installer and repairman. He later started his own business, Strait’s Farm Equipment, where he bought and sold farm equipment for over 30 years. Ralph was a member of the Brandon Baptist Church. He enjoyed going to auctions of all kinds and the time he spent with his customers and friends. But most of all, Ralph loved the time he shared with his family.

He is survived by his wife of over 62 years, Carolyn (Higgins) Strait; his son, Keith (Patty) Strait; his grandchildren, Courtney (Greg) Deckling, Shane (Desirae) Strait, Alex Strait; his great-grandchildren Emmett Deckling, Aria Strait; and his very close friends, Leda (Bart) Walker, Ken (Julia) Longshore, Mary Spearman and many others.

In additions to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Strait.

Friends may call Thursday, Nov. 21, from 4-7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be held Friday beginning at 11 a.m., with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating. Burial will follow in Brandon Cemetery.
