MOUNT VERNON — Dorothy Jean Williams, 84, of Mount Vernon passed away on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at Altercare Newark North in Newark surrounded by her family. Jean was born Sept. 6, 1935, in Salyersville, KY, to the late Clyde W. and Bertha M. (Lovely) Jackson Sr.

Jean was a 1953 graduate of Iberia High School. After high school, Jean and her husband Larry moved to Hartselle, AL for 20 years, then to Sarasota, FL, for 10 years and then for the next 20 years to Meridian, MS. She was an active member of the North Park Church in Meridian and Jean retired from Sears and Roebuck in Meridian. Jean and Larry moved back home to Ohio after retirement and here she enjoyed reading and gardening.

Jean is survived by her husband, Paul Larry Williams; sons, Larry Bruce (Dawn) Williams of Cullman, AL, and Paul Bryon (Sonya) Williams of Vancouver, WA; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy (Brad) Duncan of Boston, MA; brothers, James Calvin (Pat) Jackson of Mount Vernon, Ray (Thelma) Jackson of Clark Range, TN, and Clyde (Barbara) Jackson Jr. of Mansfield; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Jean Smallwood; sisters, Joy Moyer and Beulah Jackson; and brother, Manuel Jackson.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of a funeral service celebrating the life of Jean at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Ontario Community Cemetery.
