MOUNT VERNON — Construction to finish Yellow Jacket Drive Extension is complete and it is open between Division Street and Cougar Drive.

According to the Mount Vernon City school district website, additional changes to improve accessibility and functionality will happen in the summer. But at the time, the outer loop between the middle school and high school will remain a one way that has two lanes to help with drop off.

High school students can be dropped off curbside along the main entrance to the high school. Once the student is dropped off, parents may make their way into the left lane to continue out of the parking lot.

Middle school students can be dropped off at the curbside near the cafeteria side of the middle school. This replaces the drop-off area that was at the corner near the library entrance. Bus drop-off will continue to be at the upper parking lot.

Picking up students in the afternoon will continue with the same procedures. The buses will be along the outer loop of the parking lot. Parents can park in the parking areas between the middle school and high school. When exiting, all vehicles will exit onto the outer loop on the middle school side adjacent to Yellow Jacket Drive.
