MOUNT VERNON — David Hatton, 64, of Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born Nov. 2, 1954, in Biloxi, Mississippi, the son of Julius “Ed” Hatton and Betty (Lamb) Hatton-Follett.
David was a 1972 graduate of Fredericktown High where he lettered 3 years in football and baseball and scored the first-ever touchdown on the new high school football field.
David managed a roofing company out of state for many years but always kept in close contact with his family and friends in Fredericktown. He was thrilled to retire and return home where he became an active member of the Fredericktown First Baptist Church where he had served as a Trustee and Deacon. David was also an active member of Thrall Lodge #170 F&AM and Knox Chapter #236 Order of Eastern Star.
Besides his mother he is survived by his daughter, Brandy Hatton-Frahn; two grandchildren, Justin Sadler, Matthew Sharer; a great-grandson, Gabe Sadler; a sister, Diane (Mark) Doup; two step-brothers, Brat (Patti) Follett, Mike (Nancy) Follett; nieces and nephews, Nick (Rachel) Doup, Aaron (Ashlie) Doup, Todd (Janet) Carter, Jennefer Saxour and Doug (Linda Blunt) Carter; several great-nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Hatton, and a nephew, Robb Carter.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Fredericktown, 22 E. Sandusky St., Fredericktown, where a funeral service will be held Monday beginning at 11 a.m. There will be a Masonic and Eastern Star Service held at the end of calling hours Sunday. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
