Joshua Morrison/News A seat belt check was held Wednesday at Mount Vernon High School. Officers from Mount Vernon, Fredericktown, Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol stopped drivers to check if they, along with any passengers, were wearing their seat belts before leaving the school. Here, Trooper Joshua Carte hands a free gift card to a buckled up driver. Almost 300 gift cards were handed out but those not buckled up were kindly reminded. The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America group coordinated the effort along with the Safe Communities Coalition.
