MOUNT VERNON — James N. Miller, 78, of Richmond, Indiana, died May 16, 2019, at his home.

James was born Feb. 6, 1941, in Mount Vernon to Harold W. and Violet (Cookman) Miller. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1959, was a graduate of Findlay College in 1962 and later earned a Bachelor of mortuary science degree. He managed several department stores in Cincinnati before moving to Liberty, Indiana, where he owned and operated three restaurants. He relocated to Richmond and retired from Elder-Beerman after 15 years of service.

Survivors include his sister, Saundray McQueen; niece, Julie (Keith) Chapman; nephews, Samuel (Carol) Miller, all of Mount Vernon, and Matthew (Jennifer) Miller of Cuyahoga Falls; a great-niece; two great-nephews; cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, H. W. (Sonny) Miller Jr. and David Miller; brother-in-law, Samuel McQueen; and nephews, Samuel Jr. and Joseph McQueen.

Graveside services for James N. Miller will be held Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. at Mount View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
