MOUNT VERNON — Eldon H. Dickenson, 97, of Mount Vernon passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2019, at his home.

He was born July 19, 1922, in Mount Vernon to the late Ambrose and Estella (Hough) Dickenson. Eldon was employed and retired from Cooper-Bessemer after 30 years of service. He was a veteran, serving in the United States Army Air Corps.

Eldon is survived by his sons, Dan Dickenson, Doug (Judith Vazquez) Dickenson; his grandchildren, Nykki (Matt) Stenger, Ben Dickenson, Stephen Dickenson; his great-grandchildren, Buddy Houtkooper, Aron Houtkooper; and his ex-spouse Eloise Dickenson.

In addition to his parents, Eldon was preceded in death by his first wife Dorotha Dickenson; his brother Walter Dickenson; and two sisters, Alice Mills and Lucy Fowler.

Friends may call Thursday, Oct. 10, from 12-1 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. A service will follow, beginning at 1 p.m., with Pastor Andy Angel officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
