MOUNT VERNON — Starting Point continues its 30th Anniversary Celebration by hosting the annual Walk/Run Fundraising Event on Saturday, Oct. 5. To commemorate this milestone year, Starting Point has added a new 5K Run to its traditional family-friendly Walk. The Walk/Run will take place at Knox Starting Point located on 11 Woodlake Trail in Mount Vernon. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 5 with the Walk/Run to follow at 10 a.m.

This year’s Walk/Run will have something for everyone with live music, food, face-painting and prizes, including gift cards to local restaurants and a free night at the Grand Hotel. Walkers are encouraged to seek donations from their friends and family leading up to the event. Runners will pay a registration fee. Proceeds go directly to Starting Point’s operational fund so all services and materials can be provided at no cost to those in need.

Participants can pre-register online at www.knoxstartingpoint.com/walkrun.
