MOUNT VERNON — James Ansel, 68, of Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at Whispering Hills Care Center in Mount Vernon. He was born May 23, 1951, in Columbus, the son of Russell and Ollie (Woods) Ansel. James served in the United States Navy.

He is survived by brothers, Robert (Sheila) Ansel and Lonnie Ansel, Robert Yocum and Kevin Yocum; a sister, Frances Snider; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Lease.

Friends may call Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. Military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow at 1 p.m. A private burial will take place in Mound View Cemetery.
