MOUNT VERNON – Fern Harvey, 59, Mount Vernon, passed away July 5, 2019, due to complications from an automobile accident in Urbana, Ohio.

Fern was born Aug. 15, 1959, in Bloomington, Illinois to Monroe and Jennie Mae (Brandt) Taylor. Fern attended Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois, receiving an associate degree in early childhood education.

Fern had an insatiable passion for quilting, eagerly passing on her knowledge, assistance and encouragement to everyone she met. She belonged to several quilting guilds including the Knox County Quilt Guild in Mount Vernon. She was known to all as a generous friend with a giving spirit and a tireless helper with a servant’s heart.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Gail Taylor, whom she took loving care of during her five-year battle with breast cancer.

Fern is survived by her husband, Todd Harvey of Mount Vernon; son, Joseph Harvey, of Springfield, OH; daughter, Ellie Heintze of Bothell, WA; brothers, Gerry (Deb) Taylor, Fred (Gracie) Taylor and Danny Taylor of Bloomington/Normal IL; as well as many extended family and close friends in Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Oregon, Texas and California.

Your memories and words of comfort may be shared with Fern’s family Sunday, Aug. 18 at Central Christian Church, 17833 Gambier Road, Mount Vernon, with a Celebration of Life at 1:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Knox County Quilt Guild or St. Vincent De Paul School.
