MOUNT VERNON — James Harold Linscott Sr. passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2019 at the Brookdale Living Center after an extended illness with loving family by his side. He was 81 years young.

Jim was born April 20, 1938, to Harold and Myrtle Linscott at the family home in Athens. He graduated from Cardington High School in 1956. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from The Ohio State University, spent four years in the Army stationed in Germany and later returned to Ohio State to receive his teaching degree in math and science. He taught at John Simpson and Mohican Youth Camp Correctional Center for 35 years.

He married the love of his life Patsy (Painter) Linscott on Oct. 15, 1967, and enjoyed 51 years of marriage. They have 4 children, Joely (Kevin) Lepley, James (Michelle) Linscott Jr., Jason (Lisa) Linscott, Jennifer (Dan Kaser) McGowan; eleven grandchildren, Kirsti, Kamron, Ben, Luke, Chase, Wyatt, McKayla, AJ, Cassandra, Nikki, Ronnie; six great-grandchildren, Nora, Killian, Cali, Caylee, Chandler, and Karter; he was also a foster parent to fourteen teens.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda Gregory.

He enjoyed farming and Boy Scouts. After his stroke 14 years ago, he loved his dog Baby, his power chair and working on puzzles.

A memorial will be held at Vermillion Cemetery in Hayesville Wednesday, Aug. 7, beginning at 5 p.m. His family hopes you will hold him in your heart and remember him in your own special way.
