CAMBRIDGE — The Mount Vernon 10-year-old Little League All-Stars went 1-1 on Saturday and Sunday to reach today’s semifinal of the Ohio District 5 Little League tournament, which is being held at Cambridge City Park.

Mount Vernon won a high-scoring game to kick off the tournament on Saturday, edging Cambridge White, 13-11, and Guernsey County ran through Cambridge Blue for a five-inning, 19-5 victory in the other first-round game.

Guernsey County largely held Mount Vernon bats in check in Sunday’s quarterfinal game, limiting the All-Stars to a single run in five innings to post a 12-1 win and earn its place in the championship game.

Cambridge White faced Cambridge Blue in the consolation game on Sunday, with White earning a rematch with Mount Vernon with a four-inning 11-1 victory.

Mount Vernon will play Cambridge White again tonight at 5:30 p.m., with the winner to face Guernsey County in the title game at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. A second game would be necessary if Guernsey County were to lose the first game.
