MOUNT VERNON — Charles D. “Charlie” Hobbs, 73, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019, at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital in Columbus. He was born on March 7, 1946, in Mount Vernon. Charlie was a 1964 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and retired in 2012 after 25-plus years of employment with Clinton Township.

Charlie was an avid out-doorsman and trapper. He was a member of the Ontario Fur Harvesters Association, Ohio State Trappers Association and National Trappers Association. Charlie was a kind and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that loved his family above all else.

He is survived by his loving wife Sue (Hissong) Hobbs whom he married on Aug. 14, 1964; his children, Shelly (Steve) Mullins of Mount Vernon, Amy (John) Gleason of Mount Vernon and Clint (Abbey) Hobbs of Mount Vernon; ten grandchildren, Jordan (Merissa) Mullins, Lee (Emily) Mullins, Avery Mullins, Addysun Mullins and Alex Mullins, Jauni (JD Orr) Gleason, Noah Gleason, Owynn Gleason and Jurnie Gleason, Sam Hobbs and Max Hobbs; four great-grandchildren, Kaylee Mullins, Kohen and Skylar Mullins and Dekker Orr; his mother, Jean (McCalla) Hobbs; a brother, Michael Hobbs of Dublin and a sister, Jill (Mike) Phillips of Mount Vernon.

Charlie was preceded in death by his father Hugh Hobbs and a grandson Landyn David Gleason.

The family will observe private services. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Charles D. “Charlie” Hobbs.
