MOUNT VERNON — Carolyn S. Harmon, 71, of Mount Vernon passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019, at the Smithville Western Care Center in Wooster.

She was born on Jan. 15, 1948, in Mount Vernon to the late James and Esther (Burch) Rutledge.

Carolyn was a retired teacher for Mount Vernon City Schools where she taught for over 30 years at Pleasant Street Elementary School. She was a member of the Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon.
Carolyn is survived by her sisters, Rita (Dick) Rasnick of Clover, SC, Sharon Durbin of Kettering and Pamela (Kenneth) Janssen of Orrville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Mashburn.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, June 30 at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 East High St., Mount Vernon. A funeral service celebrating the life of Carolyn will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 1, at the Central Christian Church, 17833 Gambier Road, Mount Vernon. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
