FREDERICKTOWN — Robert E. “Cooney” Doup, 79, of Fredericktown passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.

He was born Dec. 21, 1939, in Mount Vernon to the late George and Florence (Fletcher) Doup. Cooney was employed and retired from Continental Can after 34 years of service. He was also a member of the Colonial City Moose Lodge #2555 in Mount Vernon.

Cooney is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Hulda (Kuehn) Doup; his daughter, Diane (Dave) Clippinger; his son, Jeff (Brooke Henwood) Doup; two grandchildren, Allie (Clayton) Frost and Gracie Clippinger; his sister, Georgene Ogle; and his brother, Butch Doup.

In addition to his parents, Cooney was preceded in death by his brother, Chick Doup; and his sisters, Mary Tanner and Nancy Doup.

In keeping with Cooney’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private service.
