BUTLER TWP — Search crews may not get to the Kokosing River today to look for a missing 15-year-old Columbus boy due to inclement weather.

Knox County Sheriff David Shaffer reported in a press release issued Wednesday that the search today may be called off “as rain is forecasted, and could impact the safety of boat crews.”

No further information on search efforts were available as of press time.

Shaffer further writes that crews were out for approximately 11 hours Wednesday searching for the boy, who went under the water while swimming Tuesday in a section of the river off Hazel Dell Road and did not come back up.

Columbus media have identified the boy as Narayam Darnal.

Searchers have included teams from Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District, Fredericktown’s fire and EMS departments, Walhonding Valley Fire District, Dellroy Community Fire Department and Christian Aid Ministries Search and Rescue.

No further information was available as of press time.
