“That’s a hard one to answer. I guess when you’re 18 they consider you adult. So if they’re 18 they should be allowed to buy (tobacco) and make their own choice. They consider them adults at 18 who are allowed to vote and everything else.”

Glendora Lord, Mount Vernon

“No. If a man can fight and die for our country at age 18, he should be able to smoke too.”

Dave Gore, Gambier

“They should be able to do it (use tobacco) about in their 20s. So yes, I think so. That’s old enough.”

Terri Brown, Mount Vernon

“I would say yes because if they wait till 21, then maybe they decide not to do it. They don’t need it.”

John Robison, Danville

“Yeah, because it will protect kids, and it will protect lives.”

Jeanine Davenport, Mount Vernon

“People talk about tobacco issues, but they need to worry about drug use and the sex offenders in this town first. There’s too much drug use and too many sex offenders. CPS (Child Protective Services) has taken away kids (from families) and they don’t need to take them, and don’t have proof to take them.”

Chris Mercer, Mount Vernon
