CENTERBURG — Jeanne Judith “Judy” McDavid (Nease), 78, died unexpectedly in her lifetime home in Centerburg, on Saturday, May 11, 2019. Her favorite name to go by was “Meme,” the title given to her by her grandsons.

Judy was born on April 26, 1941 in Mount Vernon to the late Henry and Phyllis (Stout) Nease. She graduated from Centerburg High School in 1959, and married John McDavid, whom she met through mutual friends, on June 11, 1961. John and Judy purchased the home she grew up in as a child, on Trimmer Road, and raised two upstanding boys.

Judy was a business owner, operating successful flower businesses in Centerburg, Sunbury, and Marengo. She later owned and operated the Village Framing Shop and Art Gallery in Sunbury. She was always active in church functions and loved planning trips with “The Young at Heart” travel group. She was a kid at heart and could most often be found outdoors walking with her cats, Bobby and Mew Mew, strolling in the woods, decorating the tree house, flying kites, or off on a vacation adventure. She did not know a stranger and possessed a true heart of gold.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, John; son, Brad (Janie) McDavid, Bothell, WA; son, Todd (April) McDavid, Westerville; grandsons Sawyer and Tanner McDavid, and Skylar McDavid; sisters, Jane (Wilbur) Buxton, Centerburg, and Dianne Tomelden, Washington, D.C.; and many loved nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, and countless friends. Family and friends were her life and inspiration, and she treasured them all.

Friends may call Thursday May 16 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 637 N. St. 61 at St. Rt. 3, Sunbury. A celebration of Judy’s life will be held Friday, May 17 at 11 a.m., at the Centerburg United Methodist Church, with Rev. Matt Skelton and Elmer Ball officiating. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery. A reception will follow at The Fuller Center in Centerburg. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Judy’s beautiful life.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Centerburg United Methodist Church, 65 S. Hartford Ave., Centerburg, OH 43011. Condolences and special memories may be shared at www.snyderfuneralhomes.com. The DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home of Sunbury is honored to serve the McDavid family.
