NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Donald Earl Cornelius, Jr., of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born March 16, 1953, in Mount Vernon and graduated from Utica High School in 1971.

Donald graduated from Miami University in 1975 with a bachelor of arts degree in music education. He was a member of the American Guild of Organists and the Choiristers Guild. He also worked with the Children’s Choirs for Music Education.

Donald traveled extensively in Europe with the Nashville West End Methodist Church Choral Group, singing with them in many churches.

He is survived by his parents, Donald Cornelius Sr., and Patricia Cornelius; brother, Daniel Cornelius; niece, Elizabeth Cornelius; nephew, Zachary Cornelius; aunt, J. Kathleen (Katy) Biggs; cousins, and very special friends Don and Karen Marler of Nashville, TN, and many other friends; aunts, Dixie Guisinger, of Hudson, FL, and Joella Welsh of Jacksonville, FL.

A funeral service will be held June 8 at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Nashville where Donald was organist and Choirmaster for 24 years, as well as a member of the congregation.

Memorial contributions may be made in Donald’s name to the American Cancer Society or to the Music Department of St. David’s Episcopal Church, 6501 Pennywell Dr., Nashville, TN 37205.
