FREDERICKTOWN — Bishop Nelson D. Kauffman, 76, of 19519 Earnest Road, Fredericktown, died Saturday afternoon, May 11, 2019, surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born Sept. 15, 1942, in Holmes County, the son of the late Dan and Katie (Miller) Kauffman. He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
He is survived by his wife Lydia (Schmucker) Kauffman, whom he married July 23, 1964; eight sons, Paul (Ella) Kauffman of Holmesville, John David (Rachel) Kauffman of Perrysville, Daniel (Naomi) Kauffman of Danville, Ervin (Tillie) Kauffman and Roy (Susan) Kauffman both of Loudonville, Edward (Ada) Kauffman of Brinkhaven, Nelson Jr. (Emma) Kauffman of Fredericktown, and Atlee (Rachel) Kauffman of Danville; 40 grandchildren; one brother, Henry (Connie) Kauffman of Gambier; and two sisters, Clara (Levi) Miller of Shreve and Mattie (Roy) Mast of Dundee. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John D. Kauffman.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 14, at 9 a.m. at the Daniel A. Miller residence, 19241 Butler Road, Butler, Ohio, with Bishop Dennis Yoder officiating. Calling hours will be Sunday, May 12, and Monday, May 13, at the Kauffman residence, 19519 Earnest Road, Fredericktown. Burial will be in Raber’s Cemetery, Butler.
