CAPE CORAL, Florida — Robert W. “Bob” White, 90, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2019, in Cape Coral. He was born Jan. 24, 1929, to Worthy and Flora White in Morgantown, West Virginia, and graduated from Morgantown High School in 1949.

Bob was retired as General Manager of the Mount Vernon News, served as a member of City Council, president of Mount Vernon City Council and mayor of Mount Vernon. He served as Director of Civil Defense in Mount Vernon, was past president of the Rotary Club of Mount Vernon, past member of the Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Mount Vernon Country Club. Bob served as a volunteer at the 6 Mile Cypress Slough in Fort Myers, Florida, and was a Member of Palmetto Pine Country Club.

Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty of Cape Coral, Florida; sister, Peg Rine of Newark; sons, Robert and Kenny (Vicki) of Mount Vernon, and Tom (Steph) of Cape Coral, Florida; and daughter, Janet of Newark; grandchildren, Johnny (Krishana) of Mount Vernon, Corrine of Mount Vernon and Geoff (Tara Lynn) of New Albany.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his Daughter in law Kathy (Hewitt).

The family ask that donations be made to the 6 Mile Cypress Slough Preserve, 7751, Penzance Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33966.
