MOUNT VERNON — Martha E. Yeager, 85, of Mount Vernon passed away on Thursday morning, May 9, 2019, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on April 11, 1934, in Saint Louisville to the late William and Edith (Gearhart) McQueen.
Martha retired from the Mount Vernon City Schools and Knox Community Hospital, where she was a Pharmacy Tech. She enjoyed quilting but most of all, Martha loved the time she spent with her family.
Martha is survived by her children, James Michael (Judy) Yeager of Athens, David (Bonnie) Yeager of Howard and Laura (Ron) Anderson of Rushville; eight grandchildren, Daniel Yeager, Justin Yeager, Leslie (Andrew) Saunders, Bryan (April) Yeager, Timothy (Brooke) Williams, Katie Williams, Jessica Anderson and Jeremy (Brittany) Anderson; six great-grandchildren, Joscelynn, Grayson, Aiden, Skyler, Ryder and Chloe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James H. Yeager on March 2, 2019; brothers, Samuel, David, Joseph, James, John, William and Isaac McQueen; sisters, Pearl Parkinson, Ruth Blubaugh and Edith Keyes; and half brothers, Paul, Willis, Frederick, Kenneth and Carroll McQueen.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday May 13 at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, beginning at 11 a.m., with Rev. Jerry Ernst officiating. Martha will be laid to rest beside her husband, Jim, at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
