COLUMBUS — Area baseball teams can look forward to some competitive baseball after OHSAA released this season’s tournament draw on Sunday evening. All games will be played at 5 p.m. at the home of the higher-seeded team.

Mount Vernon will host its tournament opener in Division I as the No. 17 seed. The Yellow Jackets will face 42nd-seeded Newark on May 13 at 5 p.m.

Highland’s opener will take place on May 16 after a first-round bye. The co-KMAC champs, the No. 6 seed in Division II, will host the winner of the game between No. 17 London and No. 10 Buckeye Valley.

Utica begins Division II play on May 14, as the 16th-seeded Redskins are home to face 20th-seeded Bishop Ready. Two more teams have first-round byes, and will play on May 16. Fredericktown, the No. 3 seed and two-time defending District champion, will host either Amanda-Clearcreek (14) or Africentric (21); and No. 2 East Knox will be home against the winner of the Utica/Ready game.

Mount Gilead opens the tournament as the No. 19 seed at No. 5 Liberty Union on May 16. Northmor is the No. 17 seed, and will travel to No. 16 Elgin for a game on May 14.

All Division IV teams will begin play on May 13. Cardington (5) will host Millersport; Danville (13) will play at Berne Union (2); and Centerburg (4), last year’s District champ, will be home versus Granville Christian (14).
