CANANDAIGUA, New York — James G. “Bern” Bernbeck, passed away April 28, 2019, peacefully at age 72.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan (Spain) Bernbeck; two daughters, Kelly (David) Hail and Shannon (Berkeley) Brean; three grandsons, Alex and Rory Hail and “Lil” Berkeley Brean; sister, Marilyn (Tom) O’Connor; brother, Bill Bernbeck; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Bernadine Bernbeck. Jim was born in Buffalo to the late Gerald and Arlene Bernbeck.

He led a successful career spanning 30 years in telecommunications, working in several cities in Ohio and Rochester, NY. He retired as National Director of Networks Translations from Sprint PCS in Overland Park, Kansas. Jim was named to the National Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals and was a recipient of the Atwood Achievement Award from his Alma Mater, the University of Rio Grande in Ohio.

In retirement, Jim and Susan settled in Canandaigua. He was an avid fly fisherman and loved to travel. Jim developed a love for cooking in his later years and enjoyed taking classes at NY Kitchen in Canandaigua.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who adored his family.

A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, May 18, at 11 a.m., at King’s Catering, 4031 Rte’s 5+20, Canandaigua.
