HOMER — A volunteer firefighter at Homer suffered an apparent seizure Wednesday, according to Homer Fire Chief Dan Helphrey.

The firefighter, who has been with the department for about four months, fell onto the concrete at the station prior to the normal Wednesday evening training session. Helphrey has not released the firefighter’s name.

Helphrey said he was transported by Air Evac out of St. Louisville to Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. As of late Wednesday evening, Helphrey said the firefighter was awake and talking with other members of the department.

“We continue to ask for prayers for healing and comfort for his family; and a speedy recovery,” Helphrey said.
