GERMANY — Lawrence “Larry” A. Smithhisler, 59, of Germany died March 30, 2019.

He was born April 4, 1959, to the late James and Janet Smithhisler and was a graduate of Mount Vernon High and Knox County JVS.

He was in the Army stationed in Germany where he met the love of his life, Moni.

Larry had the joy and love of flying model airplanes. He also enjoyed model trains with his son, Benni, and spending time with family.

Larry was so full of fun and jokes. Even through four years of cancer, he was a very strong fighter and still cracked jokes. Even as the end was nearing, he still smiled and joked around.

Surviving are his wife, Moni, whom he married Nov. 23, 1983; a son, Benni; three brothers, James (Marsha) Smithhisler of Danville, Phillip (Tonya) Smithhisler of Clifton, Mike (Carolyn) Smithhisler of Indiana; four sisters, Pam (Bill) Vermillion of Lima, Monica (Ed) Blanchard of Howard, Peggy (Randy) Harris of Frazeysburg and Maria (Steve) Wagner of Mount Vernon.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James F. Smithhisler and Janet L. (Smithhisler) Pollock.

The funeral and burial will be in Germany and we will have a small Memorial Service at a later date.

Submitted by Maria Wagner.
