AMITY — Paul M. Yoakam, 104, of Amity passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon. He was born in Knox County on June 24, 1914, to the late Earl M. and Mary Ellen (Tish) Yoakam.

Paul was a member of the Amity United Methodist Church. He retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass with over 30 years of service and enjoyed working on his farm.

Paul is survived by his children, Gary (Myrna) Yoakam of Minnetonka, MN, and Mary Ogi of Columbus; three granddaughters, Jill Ogi, Andrea (Stuart) Bestland and Kristina (Brian) Hertzberg; great-grandchildren, Will and Siena Hertzberg; special nephew, Don (Joanne) Yoakam and a very large and loving extended family.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Martha L. (Fowler) Yoakam; and a brother and sister-in-law, Leslie (Della) Yoakam.

The family would like to thank the Amity community and good friends Gayle Workman, Lavonne Elwood and Don Garvic for the visits and keeping him a part of the community. The family would also like to thank the kind and caring staff at Whispering Hills Care Center and the Country Court Nursing Center for the care they provided to Paul and to Melissa with Kindred Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 15, at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon. A funeral service celebrating the life of Paul will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, at the Amity United Methodist Church with Rev. David Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow in Amity Cemetery.
