MOUNT VERNON — In celebration of Children’s Dental Health Month, Dr. Heidi G. Decker of Howe Family Dentistry made “house calls” to area schools.

In February, Dr. Heidi G. Decker, Associate Dentist at Howe Family Dentistry, visited classes at Gambier Head Start, New Hope/Knox County Head Start and Dan Emmett Elementary School. The students were shown how to take care of their teeth and some fun tips showing the right way to floss and brush, and to provide dental hygiene education. Dr. Decker also completed dental exams.

“We believe strongly in the importance of starting proper dental care as early as possible,” said Dr. Decker. “By visiting kids in school, we can not only teach them about proper dental hygiene, but also show them some fun and easy ways to do it. Meeting the children in a group setting where they are comfortable also lets them see that dentists aren’t scary!”

Dr. Decker has been caring for children’s teeth for more than 25 years.
