DANVILLE — William F. Smith, 86, of Danville, passed away on March 10, 2019, at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born Feb. 15, 1933, in Knox County to the late Charles G. and Ora G. (Black) Smith.

William was a retired United States Air Force Veteran. He also enjoyed going to auctions, going out to eat with family. William was retired from Continental Can.

He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Smith and Melissa Smith both of Mount Vernon; sisters, Irene Bowman of Brinkhaven and Ann (Jim) Martin of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Christopher and Julia; along with great-grandsons, Kyler and Kamden; and many nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his son, Kyle Smith; sisters, Isabelle, Mary and Jane; along with brothers, Wilson and Edward.
Friends may call Wednesday, March 13, from 5-7 p.m. at Lasater Funeral Home, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road in Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held on Thursday starting at 11a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with military graveside honors by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council.

The family would like to thank the EKCJFD, Knox Community Hospital, Riverside Hospital and Country Court Nursing Home for the care provided to William.
