MOUNT VERNON — Nancy T. Meloy, 76, of Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2019, at her home.

She was born April 20, 1942, in Salem, the daughter of William and Esther (Jones) Talbott. Nancy earned her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Kent State University and taught several years at Akron University and Butler Community College. She eventually retired after 15 years of employment in the Kenyon College Accounting Department.

Nancy was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mount Vernon where she previously served as a Deacon, Elder and was integral on the Pastor Nominating Committee. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Lucy Knox Chapter of Mount Vernon, Retired Teachers Association and the Town and Country Garden Club. Nancy enjoyed being outdoors and liked walking and riding her bike.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Meloy, whom she married on July 4, 1964; her daughter, Amanda Weiss of Mount Vernon; a sister, Martha (Roger) Baird of Akron; and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be held Monday, March 4, beginning at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 106 N. Gay Street, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. Rev. Ross Slaughter will be officiating and burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.

Memorial contributions in Nancy’s name may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Daughters of the American Revolution.
