UTICA — Consumers shopping for drinks in Utica and other communities around Licking County are receiving a positive message during what often can be a dangerous time of the year. While New Year’s parties are being planned, the consumption of alcohol is often a big part of those celebrations. But one important thing to remember is that driving a vehicle does not mix well with this type of celebration.

The Utica Police Department joined forces with the Licking County Health Department this year to participate in a campaign to remind motorists that “Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving.” A Safe Communities grant with the Ohio Department of Public Safety allowed UPD to spread the word around the community, encouraging motorists to plan ahead and make smart decisions.
