Partnership makes push for recovery housing

The effort to establish a home for recovery housing, not to be confused with residential treatment, in Mount Vernon is on-going with a community partnership steering committee made up of members from Municipal Court, the Knox County Commissioners, United Way, Mental Health and Recovery and other supporters.

Apple Valley house burns

Firefighters from four departments were called this morning to fight this house fire at 121 Lakeview Heights Drive in Apple Valley. Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District, Mount Vernon, College Township, and Bladensburg fire departments were on hand to battle the blaze in the back half of the home owned by Christopher Cunningham.

Pacers’ solid 2nd half enough to upend Jackets

Mount Vernon played Delaware Hayes tough on the Pacers’ home court on Wednesday, taking a one-point halftime lead after a slow first quarter. Hayes, however, raised the offensive tempo in the second half and the Yellow Jackets never caught up, falling 71-61 to their former Ohio Capital Conference rivals.

East Knox FFA has another banner year

Exemplary leadership, motivated students and strong community support have combined to make the East Knox vocational agriculture program, and its Future Farmers of America, one of the best in the state.
In addition to the usual classroom and lab activities, every East Knox vocational agriculture student belongs to the local chapter of the FFA.
