Virgil Shipley/News The driver of this car is believed to have had a medical condition that caused him to drive off Main Street, Centerburg, into a house, Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., according to The Ohio State Highway Patrol. Gary Lizotte, 62, Howard, was driving west when his car left the right side of the road. The impact broke a 4-foot by 8-foot section from the house’s foundation. Lizotte was wearing his seatbelt. The Central Ohio Joint Fire District transported him to St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville. No report on Lizotte’s condition was available this morning.

Youth Philanthropy grant applications accepted

Organizations wishing to apply for funding from the Youth Philanthropy Initiative, in any amount up to $2,000, may apply through Monday. Last year YPI members awarded nearly $20,000 in charitable support to organizations providing services to Knox County youth, from 0 to age 18.

Locals part of national ceremony

Knox County was well represented when more than 44,000 volunteers braved cold, rainy and icy conditions on Dec. 17, 2016, for the annual Wreaths Across America event. As many as 245,000 American veterans were honored with the laying of wreaths at their gravesites this year at Arlington National Cemetery.
