Local team to live-stream eclipse footage

A team of middle school and high school students will launch a high-altitude balloon on Aug. 21 as part of a nationwide, NASA-sponsored project to live-stream aerial video footage of the “Great American Eclipse.”

The Mount Vernon Community Band and the Summer Youth Band, sponsored by Orange Barrel Production Co., will hold a joint end of summer concert on Sunday, at 3 p.m., at the Mount Vernon Developmental Center’s Great Room, 1250 Vernonview Drive, Mount Vernon.

YMCA enrichment series a success

In June, the YMCA, in partnership with the Knox County OSU Extension Office, launched and conducted a four-week enrichment series focused on the arts and humanities. Nick Clark, YMCA executive director, said the initial sessions were a success.
