Joshua Morrison/News The Mount Vernon City Water and Wastewater Department fixes a water main break on Edgewood Road, between Oak St. Extension and Ohio 229, Tuesday evening. It is unknown what caused the line to break, but it did cause collateral damage to smaller lines in the area. The road was closed at 10 a.m., and crews were still working to fix the line at 7 p.m. The line is buried about 8 feet beneath the road surface. A “precautionary” boil advisory is in effect for the surrounding areas. Those who experienced a loss of service or pressure should follow advisory procedures.
